in time for Summer…
Myriads of lipsticks, foundations, brushes and concealers grace my makeup cupboards. As a blogger and self confessed beauty addict, it’s difficult to get away from new launches and makeup products. In amongst all the chaos there are always brands that quickly become my favourite. Aside from skincare brands that I end up using until they’re empty (core skincare empties here) one makeup brand you’ll always find in my makeup bag is Elizabeth Arden.
Eight Hour
Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll already know about Eight Hour. It’s been around for such a long time and is one of those products that really works. It’s no wonder it’s a handbag staple for many.
The range is designed to help relieve any skin concerns such as chapped, cracked and dry skin. I love The Skin Protectant and the amazing All-Over Miracle Oil. You can even use the oil in your hair. Either massage it into the scalp before a relaxing night’s sleep or wash out to leave hair shiny. Any redness or irritation are always relieved by these two, whether it’s on my face or body.
I’ve even been applying it liberally to my ever expanding baby bump too. It leaves my skin super soft for literally, up to eight hours.
Its unique ingredient is Tsubaki oil. It’s an ultra-hydrating ingredient that works to deliver long-lasting moisture. Ultimately revealing radiant, healthy-looking skin with a firming effect.
For Lips
Elizabeth Arden are one of those diverse brands that offer a wide range of products. From skincare, fragrance, body-care and makeup, even their award winning Prevage skincare and Ceramide capsules are champions. As well as the Eight Hour bits, I love the different lip colours offering choice, moisture and popping colours that last all day.
Lipsticks, liners and stains have become a big staple in my makeup bag. It gives that extra dimension to the face; perfect if you’re going sans foundation or contouring. The Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick in colour ‘Neoclassical Coral’ (below) is my favourite. It’s really bright and bold, great with all the navy clothes I’ve been wearing recently. The colour lasts up to 12 hours and is super moisturising. I love that it’s a real high pigment colour so there’s no fading or need to apply lots and lots.
The Beautiful Colour Precision Glide Lip Liners are easy to use. Just twist up when you’re running low, no need for sharpeners. They come in 10 beautiful shades; I can’t get enough of the Bare and Rose colours. Great with lipsticks or solo as they’re quite creamy. For a little more definition go for the Beautiful Color Smooth Line Lip Pencil. It even comes with a handy built in blending brush (available in 8 shades).
Tropical Escape
The new colour collection ‘Tropical Escape’ from Elizabeth Arden boasts some stunning new additions to the portfolio. These coloured lip oils are well worth the small price and you’d be mad to not adore the Dare To Bare Bronzing Oil.
Part of the collection is the FourEver Bronzing Powder (left). It comes in a compact with a handy mirror. The quad comes in two shades.
It’s designed to sculpt and define the complexion while the highlight and blush work their magic on the highest points of the face.
I for one can’t think of a better and more natural looking bronzer to use this Summer. Wear over foundation to add an extra dimension or use alone for a sun-kissed look. A useful bronzing tip is to apply bronzer in the shape of a number 3 to each side of the face.
Flawless Finish
I’d already heard such wonderful things about the Flawless Finish Maximum Coverage concealer from Elizabeth Arden before I’d even tried it. I always find a good concealer really hard to come by, probably because we expect it to work in so many different ways. Covering blemishes, blending over red bits, even making eyes appear brighter by applying underneath. Tough demands from a little product, hey.
Available in 3 shades, this magic concealer is amazing at covering dark circles and fine lines. Its consistency is quite thick but strangely very lightweight when you’re wearing it so you don’t need an awful lot. You also don’t necessarily need to cover with foundation too, just a bit of this is enough to leave the house without a thick overall base. You don’t need a fancy concealer brush either – finger tips work just as well.
As a teen I remember pouring over their makeup counters in expensive department stores. I’d save up my money to buy a foundation or lipstick and I’d treat it with such care. Years later, I’m still as big a fan. For me, quality makeup is still such a self-indulgent purchase. The allure of the woman behind the red door is always just too tempting.
