Hello & Welcome!
About
I’m Lauren, from South Wales but have lived in London for 18 years. This is my space to share style, ambition, beauty and the reality of building a life that feels as good as it looks.
I spent a decade inside some of the world’s most respected luxury magazines (GQ, ELLE, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s BAZAAR, Sunday Times Style etc.), overseeing grooming, beauty and luxury accounts. That world sharpened my eye and raised my standards.
Life has shaped me just as much. I’m a mother to two girls, I’ve rebuilt after divorce and I’ve recently survived meningitis. Those experiences taught me resilience, perspective and how to protect my peace while remaining optimistic.
Alongside this platform, I run A Lick of Luxe, advising luxury brands, founders and high-net-worth individuals (much of it quietly, under NDA). I’m also the founder of The Food Girl where I create nourishing, elevated food for families & events.
Q&A
What was your earliest professional goal?
In my first job at Harper’s BAZAAR, I grew the boutiques section from one page to ten pages. In doing so, I won a work placement at the New York office (Catherine Orange Award) which drove my passion for fashion to a new level. After another work visit to NYC I tried to move there to live like Carrie Bradshaw, but with little success.
Why did you leave magazines?
I forged a successful career spanning almost ten years at various publications dealing with millions of pounds worth of ad revenue. Eventually, I took the plunge and left Vogue House to focus on my own brand, ‘Sassy In The City’ full time. Back then, there weren’t many ‘influencers’ and the industry was completely unregulated!
What has been your best collaboration so far?
I’ve worked with some incredible market leading companies on a paid-for basis and learned the world of ‘influencing’, helping luxury brands such as Maison Margiela, Net-A-Porter, Dom Perignon and many more. It’s impossible to choose a favourite but Champagne and food brands are always up there!
