My Saint Laurent Uptown Leather Clutch Review

Is This The Must- Have

Minimalist Envelope Pouch?

Regular readers of my blog may remember I wrote about the red croc-effect YSL Uptown clutch around this time last year. Still to this day it’s one of my best performing blog posts. You guys love it! My feeling is that the 300 and something pounds price tag is much more palatable than say, it’s £1-2k counterparts, I have to agree. For something so beautifully chic and practical, even I’m amazed it costs less than the other YSL bags.

I first saw the updated Uptown collection in late Summer. As soon as I saw this olive grained leather pouch I immediately put myself on the waitlist (it was sold out along with the black and cream versions). However, the wait was not that long and within a few days more were back in stock.

So what makes this bag so special? Well, aside from the price, it epitomises what the YSL brand stands for – great quality, minimalist design and pure elegance. You’d also be surprised at the size in real life, it is actually quite practical for everyday wear (that’s if you don’t mind holding clutches of course). There’s enough room for a couple of bits of makeup, my phone, keys, mask and even my sunnies.

For this post, I went for the ‘work to lunch, back to work then dinner’ look (hence the Karen Millen boots which are discounted at Shopaholics). Now that my baby bump is starting to grow bigger, I’m really enjoying trying out more dresses (like this New Look tie waist midi dress) and now we’re in Autumn, this ASOS Design trench is perfect. I definitely prefer a neutral colour palette to show off the bag a bit more.

Styling

When I wear the YSL Uptown clutch I rarely accessorise with anything else. The gold-tone logo is quite a statement in itself, however, on this occasion I went for a chunky necklace and stuck with my usual day-to-day bracelets. The bag’s streamlined design works perfectly with the Rotary Ultra Slim Men’s Gold watch that I’m wearing.

I normally pair the bag with a toned down hue like camel, olive greens, off-whites and grey. It also enhances a monochrome outfit, especially a white knitted dress. I love this bag because it’s transferable through all of the seasons too. Overall, a great investment!
