Thanks to my day job, I’m always seeing the most eye-waveringly expensive and beautiful pieces in the mens market. So hopefully, (at least I like to think so), I know a thing or two about mens gifting. Whether it’s things launching in three months time or limited edition products that are hard to get your hands on, it’s no secret that I adore newness and ‘stuff’. However, if an £80,500 Master Grande Tradition Quantième Perpétuel 8 Jours SQ watch from Jaeger-LeCoultre isn’t quite within your price range this Father’s Day, rest assured that there are plenty of other luxurious, equally as delightful things to get for your amazing Dad. Remember that if you’re posting it out, you’ll really need to get a shift on and get it sent immediately. Unless you’re Dad’s cool with it arriving Monday or in two months time that is.
1. A Trip
For my father’s 50th (I know, how young is he?!) us kids are taking him to Rome. Shared across three children, the cost isn’t as much as you’d think. This Father’s Day, a trip to the stunning Vineyard in Berkshire (ideal for the wine lovers) or Ston Easton (a country mans dream) should definitely be on the cards. Check online for availability and pricing.
2. Balenciaga Holdall
For that weekend trip he’s got planned or that business meeting he’s attending abroad, this Balenciaga 24 hour bag will complete a smart or casual look. Priced at £1,035 it’s a gift you may want to club together for but rest assured it’ll last a life time and will make every trip that extra bit luxurious. Enough for carry on so you never need to worry about that horrible baggage carousel at an airport.
3. A Stunning Washbag
Any one who is any one will know that Joules is the perfect place to find some hard wearing and fashionable mens accessories. This Father’s Day, for my Dad I’ll be making sure he has this soft leather wash bag, stylish and durable that will literally ‘age like a fine wine’. Or so I’m told. Inside you’ll find a beautiful printed lining, outside there’s a handy little handle and overall an investment piece he will cherish. Perfect for his trip to Rome too.
4. Morely Chino Shorts
Not only are Joules killing it with mens accessories but their clothing is also worth a flick through. Available in five colours, these easy to wear chino shorts will flatter most shapes and are fashion-y without being ‘fashion victim’. I know my label-hating, smart dressing Dad will love these in colour ‘Driftwood’.
5. Off White Low Tops
For the urban Dad, ‘Off White’ are a cool, understated brand who have created some awesome simple designs for footwear. The great thing is that Dad won’t feel like he’s ‘dressing too young’ with these. The perforated detail is a nod to this seasons fashion trend and white trainers instantly update an outfit to a much more fresh, modern and clean look. Oh, and they’re currently in the sale.
5. Michael Kors Jetmaster Chronograph Watch
I’ve never met a man who doesn’t love a good watch. Most men I know even own more than three luxury watches so I stick by the rule one can never own enough. This slick Michael Kors Jetmaster adds luxury to any outfit thanks to it’s sleek stainless steel strap and sub-dial chronograph design.
6. Welford Classic Fitted Shirt
A reliable shirt has been my Father’s Day gift of choice for the past few years and they’re always appreciated. Made from a light material and a fresh bright Summer colour, this one from Joules is great for Dads of all ages. So you can so see him at a family picnic in this, right? Finished with chambray trims and a concealed button-down collar it’s a great late afternoon/early evening shirt that he’ll love.
7. Undercover
London Undercover should be the umbrella brand of choice for any sophisticated gentleman and will always make an impressive gift. Priced around £185 each, they are absolutely worth the price tag. The owner of London Undercover went to school with my fiancé so I’m obviously all the more supportive of this unique umbrella brand.
8. Maison Margiela
For those who know Dan and I will know our home is full to the brim of trainers of all prices. When I met Dan, his trainer collection swiftly increased and developed into Maison Margiela footwear. Probably from all the times I’ve dragged him around Selfridges, who knows. Probably more for the younger Dads with smaller children (when you see the styles you’ll see why), these future low top leather trainers are a must have. Warning – there’s a hefty price tag.
9. Isherwood Denim Shirt
Acne Studios are a great brand if he likes understated, less in-your-face designer. Paired with some cool camel coloured trousers or dare I say it, a pair of jeans (if he can pull off the double denim look), this Isherwood denim shirt is a great style staple for the nonchalant, easy come easy go Dad.
10. Strachey Socks
If you’re looking for socks for the dignified Dads, Strachey is a great brand specialising in luxurious wool socks. Each pair starts from about £20 and have some really nice designs. My favourite are these patchwork jacquard with windowpane Escorial wool socks that look cracking with a beautiful pair of leather shoes.
11. Giorgio Armani Glasses
Men in sunglasses in the Summer make for the idyllic seasonal photo and looking back, even I’ve had some disastrous ones. A classic frame like these Giorgio Armani minimalist square sunglasses will suit most face shapes and are that effortlessly chic style that will make sure he doesn’t feel or look uncomfortable. Oh, and they’re in the sale.
12. The GQ Grooming Box
Now come on, of course I’d be telling everyone and anyone that they need to buy this for their Dad on Father’s Day. It’s the first grooming box from the best luxury mens magazine in the world (I’m bias) and comes with eight premium, luxury or full size mens grooming products from Refinery, Penhaligon’s, Elemis and many more. The box is worth over £130 and is priced only £34.99. Plus, this includes a 12-month subscription to the print edition of GQ (normally £47.88) discounted by an incredible 79%. A mag subscription and a box of goodies, what’s not to love.
12. Thortful Cards
‘Thortful’ cards are a contemporary new greeting card company giving a modern day twist on cards. Be sure to check out their website as you’ll be super impressed. All cards are priced at £2.99 and right now there is free delivery until Sunday (Royal Mail first class) – just enter DAD2016 at checkout. They’re even extending their despatch hours on orders today until 4pm – so any orders made up until 4pm will be dispatched first class today.
