No longer the reserve of women in corporate companies, the choice right now is bigger and better than ever! They’re versatile and super easy to style making them my favourite thing to wear.
Not all blazer styles suit me. As I’ve bigger hips for instance, I find box shapes really rather unflattering – even with skinny jeans and heels. I like my blazers cut smaller at the waist so that they enhance rather than hide my shape and I’m all for a little shoulder pad. In fact the bigger the better!
Dressing Down
Blazers no longer feel super formal. In fact some of the best street styles right now come with a hoodie and a beanie with trainers. The Winter temperatures are the perfect excuse to really go to town on your layering. Just remember to bear in mind the size of a blazer here – you don’t want it looking too small.
Textures & Prints
I said in my post on how to style check that heritage check is an easy trend to bring your style up to date. Prints make the blazer more interesting just remember to keep the rest of the outfit simple. It doesn’t have to be plain old boring tshirts though, band tees and logo tees work really well.
Expanding Wardrobes
Wear with that Summer dress that you packed away or that new Spring midi dress that you’re desperate to take out for the first time. A blazer is a great way of flexing your current wardrobe pieces. They’re also a great way of making a dress look more androgynous especially when paired with an ankle boot.
Luxe v’s Street
The same blazer can be dressed up or dressed down according to your mood. For a luxe feel team it with a simple cami (these ASOS ones are great) and some cigarette pants with heels or with jeans and slides for a day time look (like this picture that you liked on my Instagram).
