I moved from south to north London when I met Daniel. Before moving in together, we would take it in turns to commute from Clapham right the way up to Edgware on the northern line. What a mission. When we decided to buy our first home, he insisted we must move north. After hearing his reasoning (and understanding for the first time about the north/south divide), we moved. I miss south London terribly so whenever an opportunity presents itself, I make my way back down for a bit of fun in the sun.
I’d heard of The Draycott before – wonderfully situated right next to luxury shopping hub, Sloane Square and ideal for getting around town thanks to its proximity to the tube. When my friend Nicole and I were thinking of a chilled out place to relax, eat cake and drink tea while toasting champagne to my belated birthday, The Draycott was an easy choice.
AFTERNOON TEA IN CHELSEA
The conventional English afternoon tea always includes delicate sandwiches, sumptuous cakes and the perfect, golden and well rounded English breakfast tea. Of course for me and my friend, it also includes Champagne. As soon as we sat down, I couldn’t help but dive straight in to the delicious cucumber sandwiches and the smoked salmon and cream cheese. Paired with bubbles it’s a match made in heaven. The sweets and pastries were too tasty to pass up so obviously piling on the clotted cream (can you tell I’m not on my diet right now) and jam, we devoured the home made scones.
The gardens are also well worth a mention and we were so excited to sit and rest away from the hustle and bustle of London to enjoy the luscious green grass, birds in the trees and pretty pink flowers.
