Panoramic Views & Cocktails In Rome’s Waldorf

July 12, 2016

An Aperitif at Waldorf Astoria’s Rome Cavalieri

On Instagram and Twitter you’ll have seen that I’ve been spending the past couple of weekends away; Morocco this weekend, Rome last. At 40 degrees and with its spicy scent, Morocco is a huge cultural contrast to the chic weekend spent with my family in Italy.

Those who’ve read my engagement story from last year will know that Rome is a special place for me. Not only is it where Daniel proposed, it’s also one of the rare places where each of your senses can be stimulated. A visual feast for the eyes, the sights are one of a kind. So when, on the Saturday night, we wanted a stunning place for an aperitif where we could bask in the stylish atmosphere and see the views before venturing out for dinner, the Rome Cavalieri (a Waldorf Astoria Hotel) delivered that unforgettable experience that made my Dad’s birthday all the more memorable.

The Fancy Route To The Loo’s…

I’ve been to London’s Waldorf Astoria a few times, staying overnight and eating the food that’s had rave reviews in many magazines and on food blogs. So when I heard of the Waldorf in Rome, I know it’d be luxurious and elegant and that the hospitality and cuisine would be second to none. It’s the first Hotel in Europe to be part of the exclusive Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts and has everything you’d  imagine being 5 star. The Penthouse suite boasts the palatial glamour that you’d expect from a Waldorf Astoria property and with a carefully curated collection of art, it’s a calm environment that you won’t want to leave.

At the resort, there’s an impressive Grand Spa and an expensive looking stylish interior throughout the bars and restaurants. The resort is located within acres of rich Mediterranean parklands so it lends itself nicely to an opportunity for a stunning terrace where you can pick up a bite to eat or order a few drinks. The Tiepolo Lounge begins in the main lobby, extending onto the terrace where you’ll find the neutral cushioned wicker chairs and sofas overlook the pool and the gardens. It’s tranquil setting allows for lunch, a quiet coffee or an aperitif.

The Tiepolo Lounge serves a wide and refined selection of Whisky, Cognac, Armagnac and Grappa too and their famous ‘Tea with Tiepolo’ is served daily from 4 pm to 6.30 pm.

After cocktails, we grabbed a car back to the main sights – the Trevi Fountain (to make a wish) and The Pantheon, before heading to the lovely Ella Effa for dinner, where Suits’ Harvey Spector’s doppleganger served us all evening.

Book your stay at Rome Cavalieri, from approx. £220 a room a night (romecavalieri.com).
