First Class Luxury For The Hair With Michael Van Clarke, Marylebone

IN THIS POST

Regular readers will know that I am obsessed with luxury Marylebone-based hair salon, Michael Van Clarke. I’ve been hugely fortunate to have the man himself, Michael, cut my hair and over the years I’ve enjoyed numerous cuts and colour sessions with other amazing Senior stylists.

His haircare range 3″‘ more inches is my go-to for long, healthy looking hair. The truth is, I rate the salon and Michael’s haircare products so much that I’ve actually turned down paid-opportunities with other haircare brands because quite frankly, nothing compares.

Disclaimer: This haircut & colour was gifted but all opinions are my own. I often repeatedly purchase the incredible 3″‘ more inches range.

Fresh hair

Last Thursday my hair got lots of TLC at the salon. I fancied a bit of a change and so after a couple of years of natural dark brown, I wanted some lighter balayage pieces. What I love about the salon is that the colour service is a collaboration; you ask for something and they advise. The picture I showed? The colour was too bright around the face and wouldn’t suit my skin tone. So Berni did her thing and guess what? She was right. Plenty of multi-tonal, soft highlights later, I’m thrilled with the results. It’s much better than the picture off the colour I initially wanted. I trusted Berni (my colourist) implicitly.

Before & After

Notes

I had my cut by the amazing Lamphane. It was my third time in his chair. To describe Lamphane as exceptionally talented would be an understatement. He’s an actual real life magician. He cut my hair in record time, thinned it out, took off the bulk and left the length. He cut around my face to shape my hair into an easy-to-manage style that can be parted on any side. I’m literally obsessed with him.

Check out the before and after opposite.

Caring for hair

Now that I have highlights, maintenance is more important than ever. I have very thick hair that’s prone to frizz and so moisture is key. I’m using the Intense Lifesaver Treatment which is a silicone-free pre-wash treatment rich in cashmere proteins that repair and recondition hair to feel its natural beautiful best. The Essential Moisturing Set is another silicone-free system that repairs, restores and protects your hair. I truthfully cannot recommend them enough.

What is the Diamond Dry Cut?

This is the technique of cutting the hair clean and dry, allowing the stylist to work with the hair’s natural movement and texture, interpreted with face shapes and features, to create brilliant styles with an unrivalled level of precision and balance. This unique method liberates the stylist to create something truly personalised for each of their clients, for hair that looks better, lasts longer and is easier to manage. When the style grows out, it’s still extremely manageable which is a huge deal for me as a busy mum of two.
