MUA Luxe Lip Colours: My Review

From my Instagram you’ll know that I’m big on lips. When I find one I love, I’ll use it over and over again. I’ve drawers full of various lipsticks, tints, balms and stains from every side of the price spectrum. True to what’s on trend, right now I’m loving anything that looks matte, leaves a velvety finish and of course gives me a plumped lip effect. I’ve never had fillers – not for any reason other than I hate needles and I can achieve some good plumping effects with the right product.

Individually

Today, those giving me all this plus more right are the Velvet Lip Lacquer by MUA Luxe at Superdrug.
They can be bought for just £3 each. Or there’s the option of 5 with a handy presentation box for £15.
I love ‘Softly Spoken’. Two nudes, one pinky/nude and two reds. Probably the most versatile.
In this pack:

  • Tranquillity
  • Poise
  • Hustle
  • Firecracker
  • and Flair

My New Staples

Unscrew and apply. It glides on like silk and can be built up for a more striking look. They don’t dry out like most matte lipsticks and don’t flake and crumble on the lip after a few hours.

I’d even go as far as to say these lip lacquer’s are just as good as Anastasia Beverly Hills but without the price tag. They’re long-wearing meaning you don’t have to worry about topping up every five minutes and the matte finish is soft (like velvet) so there’s no stiff lip effect like with some lacquers. There’s no need to bother with lip liner when applying them as the pointed tip of the applicator allows you to define the lip line without hassle. I built up my lip by extending the colour outwards and doubling up on the application in the centre of my bottom lip. I always find that a little more product in this area works better with the light to reflect the product and give a more 3d finish.

So I tried the pack and here’s how I got on with each of the colours. Above shows my normal lip sans any balms, creams or colour. This is the blank canvas that I worked with. My favourite has to be the first and third. What do you think?

This one I had a little difficulty with. As I’ve fair skin, the colour was super dark and I found it tricky to line my lips. Patience is everything.

What do you think of the shades, which are your favourite? Have you tried MUA Luxe yet? Xx
