My Fresh Attitude Towards
Minimalist Styling
Over the years, I’ve been guilty of over accessorising. Whether it’s loud bags and statement shoes paired together or a few too many necklaces and bangles, I’ve definitely had my fair share of ‘over done’ looks. My fashion choices archive is shocking!
When I think back to those outfits, I believe it came from a lack of confidence. I’d always want ‘one more thing’ or wear multiple trends at a time simply because they were ‘in fashion’. That is what would give me confidence. But now that I’m older and have a different relationship with my body (and style), I can definitely step out in a more minimalist, clean outfit and feel confident in myself.
Today, when I hear ‘minimalist outfit’, my mind wanders to crisp, clean lines, neutral palettes and season-less pieces. Now that I’m pregnant, I’m leaning more towards minimalist styles regularly because I feel too ‘obvious’ when wearing clashing prints and feel too uncomfortable in something that’s too fussy.
Minimalism is all about less, looking refined and chic. It’s plain dresses with colour blocking or the clean cut lines of a beautiful coat against a blank canvas. This Rebecca Minkoff clutch is the perfect accessory with any minimalist outfit because of it’s envelope shape and neutral colour. I’ve curated an edit of the best minimalist pieces below. Enjoy!
