When I heard the news that British womenswear brand Precis were teaming up with British designer Jeff Banks to create a new collection, I was curious to see what the fuss was about. The capsule collection benefits from his fifty years of industry talent and with pieces ranging from a sixties inspired shift dress to tailored separates, as soon as I saw it I knew it would be a refreshing way to kick off a new Spring wardrobe.
Aside from the quintessential English tea dress, there are a few wardrobe staples that I’ll invest in every Spring. Given my job at GQ, followed by evenings spent with friends and weekend plans with Daniel or family, it’s important for me to own pieces that I can mix and match for a workable trend. Ever a fan of monochrome and fitted tailoring, this white dress coat (£189) is one of my favourites in the collection, worn with the thick black jersey trousers (£79) and the black and white bubble blouse (£59).
The sizing does come up a little larger than expected so I was thrilled when I managed to get away with a size 8 (first time in a long time). These chic tailored shorts (available in both black and blue, price £69) nip in at the waist offering a sweet feminine silhouette and are great for taking me from office to after-work fun. The high waist is a modern twist to a tailored, office-appropriate short and the frayed hem turns it into a slightly more casual look. They aren’t too-short, so don’t be afraid to wear with a pair of heels (for a formal look) or biker boots for a more casual approach.
