When I worked at ELLE, remember watching a presentation by Donna Wallace (now Fashion and Accessories Editor at British Vogue) about accessories trends. From there, I learned something that has stuck with me. “You could own just one black dress and a coat and have a catalogue of looks just by editing your accessories”.

She’s not wrong, and Donna really knows her stuff. 

I’ve just completed one of my biggest clothes purges to date and in doing so, I’ve had to seriously whittle down my accessories collection. Some things were easy to part with (I’m a big believer in the rule ‘not wearing in two years never wearing again’) but others felt a little emotional. 

Looking at my collection now, there’s a definite theme. Gold accents. So, feeling inspired, I’m sharing my favourite gold accented accessories – all superb against a navy, black, cream and honey wardrobe colour palette for Autumn/Winter.
