Finding Joy With
Fashion
These past few days my husband and I have been doing a huge purge of old stuff that we no longer use, want or bring us joy. Marie Kondo eat your heart out! There’s something so refreshing and resetting about a declutter and even better when it’s things that no longer give you pleasure. From the not-so-white-anymore shirts to the never-fit-me-again dresses, bags upon bags have been filled up, donated and binned.
I have to be honest, this is more to make space for the new baby’s arrival rather than an exercise in finding happiness. But when I reunited with some old favourites, I forgot how much joy some fashion pieces bring me.
It doesn’t matter where you find the pieces that bring you joy. I’ve had precious moments in vintage shops in Amsterdam, found some incredible old trucker jackets in Camden and even found some 1950’s treasures in Venice. I’ve swapped things with friends, bought second hand and of course have blazed the high streets in London pre-pandemic.
Feeling inspired by this happy-feel-good lilac blazer from Topshop, I thought I’d curate a little edit of some other things that are bringing me joy during Lockdown 3.0. Let me know if you agree or disagree or whether you’ve your eye on something completely different!
