Postcards From Bristol: Hotel Du Vin, City Centre

Bristol was my first home after fleeing the nest and leaving my grandparents at 18. It’s where I spent four wonderful years both studying and working. I made memories that will last me a lifetime. The night life, shopping and social scene is something that still to this day, is unparalleled with any other City.

Hotel du Vin, Bristol City Centre

So on a return trip to London from my home town of South Wales we stopped at Hotel du Vin for a weekend spent soaking up the delights of Bristol. It’s a hotel I’ve always wanted to stay in and one that I even contemplated having our wedding at. It’s the perfect mix of interesting wine, gorgeous interior decor and somewhere I’ve always imagined you can party discretely because of all the wonderful dark corners and moody features.

Our Loft Suite

We booked our room on the spur of the moment and were lucky enough to get the last room available. It’s the best room too! The loft room that’s Chapel facing and one so unique that it’s unlike anything I’ve ever stayed in. Our suite, aka the “Perrier Jouet” is a duplex suite with a King size bed with fine Egyptian cotton bedding and features a stunning Perrier Jouet, back-lit display headboard.
The interior design is a great mix of luxury and practicality. It’s peaceful and feels “expensive”. Every detail has been carefully considered from the complimenting earthy tones to the window cill. The room has an additional room (great for Mia to sleep in her own space) as well as another more laid back lounging area next to the bed. Aside from the 42 inch plasma TV, upstairs is a separate bathroom (toilet downstairs) with twin roll-top baths. Yes, two baths! L’Occitaine products are right there for you to use so you can both soak in the bubbles and chill out in the peaceful and charming setting of the room. There’s also a powerful walk-in monsoon shower (that I took lots of pictures of as inspiration for our new home).

After ordering room service food and champagne, we filled our boots with the continental breakfast the next morning. It’s safe to say we all had the best time! Both Dan and I have said that we’ll definitely return someday. Prices can be on the heavy side so it’s the perfect hotel for special occasions. We had no complaints (rare for me, ha).

Verdict: 4 /4
