Timeless Aviator Jackets To Suit All Budgets

The Best Aviators

To Buy This Autumn

Designers find inspiration in all sorts of places. A few years ago I was lucky enough to meet Anya Hindmarch and my question to her was, “where do you find inspiration for your creativity when designing bags?’ Her reply was, Everywhere. As an artist you can find the corner of a door frame in Marrakech inspiring, the pattern in the wood could well be the next big buckle trend”.

It’s not just this kind of artistic imagination that fashion leans on though. Very often, it can be found right where you least expect it. High vis jackets á la road worker, ski goggles in last year’s Dior show and of course, aviator sunglasses and jackets worn by pilots.

Modern aviator jackets are of course a far cry from the quality and durability of those worn during the war. There are so many different versions, fabrics and styles around today. Pre pregnancy I had a lovely longer length aviator from All Saints but when expecting, I find a more cropped version like this lovely New Look style much more flattering.

So whether your budget will stretch to leather or shearling or cotton, there are aviators to suit every shape and size. More modern spins on the classic flight jacket include tough, biker style, soft bohemian style and even cosy woollen styles. Check out my edit below and let me know what you’ve got your eye on!
