My 9 Favourite
Check Coats For A/W Season
When I first moved to London, I’d spend my lunch hours treading the streets of London’s West End looking at clothes. Zara on Regent’s Street was a firm favourite as was Aquascutum, Levi’s, Oasis and Warehouse. The latter was always my go-to for office/workwear whereas Levi’s was great for jeans. I’d spend ages in Aquascutum lusting over their iconic coats.
I always dreamed of owning one, one day. Well that was about 12 years ago and I still haven’t gotten round to buying it (it’s very pricey) although I am however, a proud owner of one of their scarves. This just goes to show that a classic check print is a timeless classic that never really goes out of fashion.
When it comes to check, buying it is hard to get wrong. Thankfully there are so many gorgeous check pieces on the high street to suit all budgets and of course, on the higher end of the scale, not forgetting Burberry’s famed print which is still popular today.
Whilst buying and sourcing check is easy, sometimes I see some outfits put together that wouldn’t suit me. I’m not a fan of bright popping coloured check because I don’t have anything to go with it so I usually lean more towards liquorice, charcoals and navy blues. Some of my favourite check pieces come from Grace & Oliver and Ganni, whereas heritage check can be really good at Mango and All Saints. When it comes to more Autumnal colours like rich browns and coffee tones, ASOS is quite good too!
