I’m a full time mum, 6 hour a week blogger. It sounds ridiculous because I post so much but it’s all about the scheduling and correct time management! So my vibe right now is:
1) Mia
2) Styling, wearing, photographing and writing about the things I love and sharing it with you guys
My day can be totally varied because I’m also (an occasional) free lance personal shopper, housewife and cleaner to my messy family!
My Day
Most of my work is done on a Tuesday, so here we go…
MORNING
Noise from the baby monitor starts around 7.15am. I hear, “Mia, Mia, Mia, Meeeeeeeee-yah!” (yes, she’s well practiced in saying her name now). I’m out of bed and ready for her three B’s: bottle, breakfast, books. My morning is spent reading with her and cooking her meals to freeze for the week.
MIDDAY
Mia’s asleep so it’s time to address some emails. I normally get around 200 a day, they range from sponsorship negotiations to conversations calling out pieces for a shoot happening next week. Some campaigns are happening straight away too while other times I’ll be turning down sponsorships because they don’t fit my brand or aren’t offering enough money. Right now I’m also talking to a brand for a deal that’s happening as far away as Christmas. Invitations to events come in but because of my baby I don’t attend very many. I have awful (unreasonable) mum guilt being away from her as it is.
AFTERNOON
3 o’clock my babysitter arrives and I go to a coffee shop to do more emails. Right now I’m planning a collaboration with Oasis after a studio shoot with them a few weeks ago. I’ve also teamed up with a food brand for something a little different and I’m finalising details for a project with a big London shopping centre so during this hour the T’s & C’s are firmed up.Then it’s time for me to head to my office to meet my assistant.
I’ve been working with my assistant, Jennifer, for a while now and she’s been an absolute godsend! Together we shoot clothes, prepare outfits for blog posts, edit photos and research new trends. It’s nice to have someone to bounce ideas off. Right now we’re shooting some YouTube content for my upcoming launch and while the weather’s nice we’re still going outdoors to shoot some pics.
Early Evening
Some weeks I might have appointments or meetings with brands around this time. I might have also hired a professional photographer so I’ll see them for an hour and a half. But normally with a backlog of content, it’s time to write blog posts and schedule social media. I’ve made it a rule not to be on my phone around Mia so scheduling is crucial. I don’t want to be on my phone 50 times a day uploading stuff. It also means I can get away with working 3 -4 hours a day, twice a week, and have the rest of the week to focus on being a mummy.
As you can see, every hour of my day has to be well thought out and hour blocked so that I can get the most out of my time.
