5 Things I’m Doing To Feel Amazing & They’re Really Working!

To feel amazing there are a few new life rules I abide by. Going right back to basics, most of them are new habits that were pretty easy to adopt but some did take a little while longer. With just a few simple adjustments, I really feel younger, happier, more motivated and ready to work. Who knows, maybe they might even interest you too?

Diet & Nutrition

Changing the way I understand ‘diet’ has been a massive game changer. I’m no longer always ‘on’ different fad diets but instead, I’m considering ‘diet’ as what I put in my mouth everyday. So I’m never ‘on‘ a diet but I have a ‘good‘ diet. I no longer drink caffeine and alcohol or eat chocolate and sugar. I will allow myself a sip of bubbly if I’m celebrating (like our wedding anniversary for instance) and sometimes natural sugars are there (well, and a Twister lolly) but I try my best to avoid it at all costs. Feeding myself good, nutritious food has meant that my mind, body and overall wellbeing has improved enormously. Energy levels are level throughout the day and my sleep’s now more luxurious.

FitBit

Attached to my wrist I’ve a pedometer, heart rate monitor and sleep tracker all in one. My FitBit nudges me each time I’m sitting down for too long and links to my phone to illustrate weight charts, goals and movement. It’s like having a personal trainer on my arm that encourages me to get up and move. I aim to walk 10,000 steps a day and sleep 8 hours a night. So far, so good!

Reading

These past 8 weeks I’ve made a point of broadening my literature. I’ve books on stress, books written by academics, novels and I’m waiting for my husband to finish ‘Shoe Dog‘ (a memoir by the creator of Nike). There’s something to be said about reading just before bed, even if it’s just one chapter or one paragraph.

Family Time

I’ve been making more of an effort to spend time with my family. Not just Dan and baby Mia, I mean everyone. Even FaceTiming my Dad etc. once a day brings us all closer together and it’s great being able to invite my family over from Wales so they can play with the baby and relax. I love seeing them bond with Mia, showering her with cuddles and of course, there’s always a sense of love and warmth that comes from kissing hello, goodbye and embracing.

Having a ‘Thing’

When I wrote an article for JoJo Maman Bébé, I said that everyone needs a ‘thing’. My thing is still the Real Housewives series but now that The Hills is being aired on Hayu.com right from the very beginning, it means I’m already 4 seasons in! I love just chilling out and watching an episode (or 3) when Mia’s sleeping.

Have you got any special tips to help you and others feel amazing?
