Care During Covid-19
There’s a reason why Vogue heralded Michael Van Clarke, Marylebone as ‘the most professional salon in London’.
As I jumped off the tube and headed the short 5 minute walk from Baker Street station to Michael Van Clarke hair salon in Marylebone, I felt a mixture of excitement (it truly is one of the best hair salons in London) and nervous anticipation at what could await. This is the first time I’m having my hair done in a fair few months since the news of Covid-19 first broke.
I needn’t have worried because their focus is totally on the health and wellbeing of the clients, as much as it is on customer experience and satisfaction. I felt totally safe in the salon with a good distance between other clients and a temperature check before entering. There are sanitisers all around the salon and the staff are fully masked. Nearly half of the seats have been removed too and their extended opening hours allows for less than half the team in at any one time. There are lots of other precautions too, all of which you can check out here. So far, I was massively impressed.
With the old balayage beginning to show through, my hair was in dire need of a colour refresh. The salon is one of my favourite places in London to get colour because their attention to detail is unparalleled. I knew that by asking for a natural darker brown shade that the results would be glossy, with even coverage and some of those greys disappearing!
I absolutely adore this shade of brown, it’s closer to my natural hair colour and leaves my hair super conditioned and healthy looking. Once the colour had been checked, the incredible Lamphane cut my hair exactly how I wanted it – trimmed at the back and shaped around the face. He also explained how to dry hair at home; the cut makes it so easy, as you can see from my first at-home attempt in the picture above!
You can find the full price list here and it’s not just hair. Their beauty menu is not to be ignored either. Michael Van Clarke continues to be one of my favourite salons in London. Regular followers will know that I also recommend the haircare range, ‘3 more inches’ which is silicone free, helping hair reach its full growth potential without breaking.
