Isn’t it funny how some fashion favourites always come back around? Just like the humble Hunter welly or Nike Air Force Ones. There are some accessories that we end up repeatedly purchasing throughout our lives. Like the Birkenstock sandal for instance.
Despite the Birkenstock brand selling a whole host of different styles, there are two firm favourites that you or I are more likely to know. Those are the Arizona (the two strap sandal that I’m wearing in the post) and the Madrid sandal (similar but with one strap). They are two of their best selling sandals.
I remember my very first pair of Birkenstock Arizona sandals, they were bought for me when I was a child for a holiday in West Wales. I probably wore them everyday! Today, the label offers over 40 sandal styles and oversees collaborations with the likes of Rick Owens in its coveted 1774 series, which sees classic styles interpreted in new ways.
One particular style that I’m loving right now is the Arizona EVA. Arizona is a genuine classic that has been delighting both men and women with its timeless design for decades. The EVA version are only £35 and are modelled on the cork original (but no cork in sight). This particular sandal is made from ultra lightweight and highly flexible EVA material. It’s a synthetic material which is not only comfortable and ultra lightweight but also waterproof!

How I Style My Birkenstock Arizona EVA Sandal
Right now, comfort is absolute key for me. I want a shoe that is lightweight and fits well but I also want to be able to stay on foot around London without having to always rely on trainers.
If I’m not throwing on a Summer dress, (Birkenstocks look great with a pretty puffy sleeve dress) then I’ll pair mine with a relaxed pair of jeans (these are maternity), a plain vest and a jacket. The cropped jacket I’m wearing is now sold out at Topshop but you can find a similar style in the sale here. I wanted to find a great backpack that didn’t break the bank too and found this gorgeous Ellis crocodile bag. It’s the perfect size for a day out in the City and pulls the outfit together.
If I’m on mum duty then they look equally as chic with a pair of shorts and a white linen shirt.
